Frederick Wiseman’s 1983 masterpiece, The Store, provides an immersive look into the dynamics of retail and consumer culture in the United States through this documentary about the inner workings of the main Neiman-Marcus store and corporate headquarters in Dallas. The sequences in the film include the selection, presentation, marketing, pricing, advertising, and selling of a vast array of consumer products including designer clothes and furs, jewelry, perfumes, shoes, electronic products, sportswear, china, porcelain, and many other goods. Join us for an eye-opening cinematic experience that delves deep into the intricacies of consumption, and the impact of consumerism on our lives and society as a whole.

Tickets are $8 members, $10 nonmembers, and $5 with valid school I.D. Cash bar available in the Bechtler lobby starting at 5:00 PM followed by the film screening in the Knight Theater at 6 PM.
